Correction, Retraction, and Archiving Policy

JOECSA is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and permanence of the scholarly record through transparent protocols for corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern, in line with COPE guidelines.

Corrections (Errata): Minor errors (e.g., typographical mistakes, author name misspellings, or minor data corrections that do not affect conclusions) are addressed via a published Correction Notice linked to the original article. Authors must submit a written request detailing the error and its impact, which is reviewed by the editorial team before publication.

Retractions: Articles are retracted when there is clear evidence of unreliable findings due to misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication) or honest error that invalidates the results or conclusions. Retractions are initiated by the editors, authors, or readers and follow COPE flowcharts, including investigation and notification of authors' institutions. A Retraction Notice is published, clearly labeled as such, linked to the original article, and explains the reason for retraction without defamatory language.

Expressions of Concern: Issued when there is inconclusive evidence of misconduct or when an investigation is ongoing, to alert readers to potential issues with the article's reliability.

Archiving: JOECSA ensures long-term digital preservation of all published content through OJS's built-in archival features, regular backups, and participation in PubMed Central (PMC) and other trusted repositories. All articles are assigned persistent identifiers (DOIs) and are preserved in accordance with PMC's Back Content policy and technical specifications.pmc.
