Authorship Criteria

JOECSA follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations for defining and attributing authorship to ensure that all listed authors have made meaningful intellectual contributions to the work.hsls. libguides+1

To qualify as an author, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria:

1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data. hsls.libguides+1

2. Drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.hsls.libguides+1

3. Final approval of the version to be published. hsls.libguides+1

4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved. hsls.libguides+1

Individuals who do not meet all four criteria (e.g., technical assistants, data collectors without intellectual input, or general supervisors) should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section rather than listed as authors. 

All authors must disclose their specific contributions using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) system or a similar structured format in the manuscript submission. The corresponding author is responsible for confirming that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and agree with its submission to JOECSA. 

Changes to authorship (addition, removal, or reordering) after submission require a written justification from all authors and approval by the editorial office. Disputes regarding authorship are resolved in accordance with COPE guidelines and may involve institutional investigation.
